モンテヴェルディもシュッツも興奮のうちに終了、その後私は公開講座の準備に追われ、演奏後の感想を書くひまがなく、失礼しておりました。と、瀬尾さんから「ベルリン便り」が届き、今更のように彼女の充実の一年間に感動した次第です。特に彼女がエピファニエン教会のカントール、マッテーイさんの指揮するカントライで歌わせて戴けたことは、彼女のみならず、私達シュッツ合唱団にとっても大きな喜びです。2002年にシュッツ合唱団がこのエピファニエン教会でコンサートをさせて戴いた折、このマッテーイさんが私達のためにメシアンを弾いて下さいました。その演奏とお人柄のなんともいえぬ暖かさにすっかり感激、またその時に戴いた「エピファニエン教会の歴史」という冊子の中で、マッテーイさんがお書きになった＜1968年〜1991年のエピファニエン教会の教会音楽＞という記事にもいたく心を打たれ、「ベルリンに留学するなら是非この教会とマッテーイさんを訪ねてごらんなさい」と瀬尾さんに勧めたのでした。思っていた以上の素晴らしい出会い、しかもマッテーイさん任期最後の一年間、という、やはりこれは「お恵み」であったのでしょう。瀬尾さんは8月31日に東京着、9月2日（日）には公開講座の初日、バッハ・カンタータ78番の練習に来てくれるとのこと、皆再会を楽しみにしています。しかし一年とはあっと言う間ですね。言わずもがなですが、やはり言ってしまいました。
ありがとうございます！元気に帰国致しました。
最後の通信に書いたとおり、マッテーイさんは最後に私一人のために、40分のオルガン・コンサートをして下さいました。マッテーイさんの思い入れの深いメシアンやリゲティなど、それはそれは素晴らしい演奏で、胸打たれました。私一人ではもったいなかったですが、作曲家たちが天で聴いて喜んでいるだろうと思いました。あの日のことは、二度と忘れないと思います。
